Easy Post-Pregnancy Workouts

My post-pregnancy workouts look drastically different from my pre-pregnancy workouts. And some of the factors that have changed this:

(1) Baby EJ

(2) COVID-19.

I’m going to detail what I do for workouts in hopes that this will help you find an alternative way to workout.

Walking/Jogging

Okay let’s just keep it simple, walking. It’s so easy to include baby when you’re walking. Although walking is not vigorous, it still remains a form of physical activity, but the faster your walking speed the more vigorous it becomes. Plus, you don’t need a jogging stroller if your plans are to just walk. We used our Evenflo Pivot Modular Travel System for walks around the neighborhood.

Walking was great in the beginning, but for me it’s not enough. If you’re looking for a more vigorous workout like jogging, then my suggestion is to purchase a jogging stroller. Just keep in mind, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that baby be at least 6 months old before jogging with baby in the jogging stroller. Another great resource would be to consult with your baby’s Pediatrician.

Last month, we purchased the Graco Trax Jogger Click Connect Jogging Stroller, which is amazing. You can literally push this stroller with a finger and it will glide. There’s no extra effort to get this stroller moving, which is great when going up a hill—trust me, I know! Just remember, jogging strollers are quite expensive compared to just the average stroller. If you know for sure a jogging stroller is what will keep you motivated, I would definitely suggest placing this item on your registry. And, if you want to step it up a notch when you’re jogging, wear a sweat waist trainer.

YouTube Workouts

YouTube workouts range from yoga to intense HIIT workouts. If you’re on a budget, but you still want that intense workout, YouTube is your friend. I have completed a Nike workout, which was VERY intense. Then there are times where I want a more relaxing, but engaging workout like yoga. If you are just looking for something where you can dance and just move, I would definitely look into something like Zumba. Zumba used to be my jam on YouTube—I need to get back to that. You may ask, okay where is the baby when all of this is going on? I have utilized our Baby Einstein Sky Explorers Walker, Ingenuity Dream & Grow Bassinet, and Fisher-Price Deluxe Kick & Play Piano Gym as a way to not only keep my eyes on EJ, but also keep him entertained.

Everything that I listed above does not require a gym. Not only can you get a good workout at home, but you can remain a safe distance from others and save your coins! Do not feel like you have to work out every day, because guess what…I don’t! Life brings about many changes especially when you have a new person in a household like a baby. I’m not perfect when it comes to physical activity. I know there are some improvements that I myself can make, but I am here to motivate you and to encourage you that you can do it. Whatever means of physical activity that you choose to do be sure to do your best. I’ll be back tomorrow!
