HOW TO USE THE SPECTRA S2 BREAST PUMP
After much research, I decided to order my FREE Spectra S2 Plus Electric Breast Pump through my insurance company—contact your insurance company to see if you qualify for a free breast pump. I’m quite visual when it comes to learning. I’m going to include more pictures in this blog post than normal to assist with this how to demo.

Quick Description: The Spectra S2 Plus Electric Breast Pump is a closed system, hospital strength double/single breast pump.
STEP 1: With all the accessories (AC power adapter, tubing, flanges, etc.) connected, plug in your breast pump to an electrical outlet.
*Sidenote: You can purchase a Spectra portable vehicle adapter for emergency situations.
STEP 2: With the flanges positioned on your breast, press the power button (bottom, middle) to turn on the breast pump.
STEP 3: Press the expression button (top, middle) and adjust the suction by pressing the plus or minus buttons (far right) to increase or decrease the vacuum. For let down, I place the pump cycle on 70 for the first 3-5 minutes and then transition to 54 for expression mode. I typically keep the vacuum at a high setting, but adjust this based upon your tolerance.
The Spectra S2 has some great features. Read below.
1. The pump can be used as a double pump or a single pump.
2. The S2 is a closed system, which means no back flow, which keeps the tubing clean and free from mold and germs/bacteria.
3. The pump has a night light.
4. The pump has a timer.
5. And it’s QUIET!
Here is a list of items that I purchased to use with the Spectra S2.
After writing this blog, I realized that recording the setup and use of the Spectra S2 would be a great YouTube tutorial. Be sure to subscribe to my email list to stay up to date with Brown Mommy Diary and be notified when this video tutorial is available.
